Building a Social Media Digital Footprint #4 – An interview with Brandon Falcon of Falconics Inc. You can view Blog #3 here.

This week’s blog continues our interview series on Creating a social media Digital Footprint with Brandon Falcon of Falconics. Today’s blog will focus on LinkedIn and Twitter and building a tribe of followers. I’m sure you’ll agree with what we’ve entered over the last 18 months that we need to get a good handle on our social media efforts and what’s going to work for our companies, especially with small micro-businesses who are still in those discovery stages as far as their social media and digital marketing is concerned. So, let’s get started.

Danna
First, like I said, this session is on LinkedIn and Twitter, completely different than what we have been discussing…Facebook and Pinterest and Instagram. We’re talking about two different platforms here. Tell us a little bit about what the difference is between what we have been discussing and these two platforms.

Brandon
I think they both have their own spot, obviously their own place in the world that’s beneficial. We see a lot of people look to platforms like Twitter, for instance, for news and just really keeping up to date with the most relevant information on the go. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, those platforms are good, but they’re not typically the same as how Twitter has really established itself, and it’s really opened up the world to that flash of content, it’s been really beneficial for political figures, as beneficial for really anyone outspokenness to just political figures, we just happen to hear about that the most, so that’s really been really beneficial, and I think the fact is, is that since they focus on just a set of characters that you can utilize on that platform, you can only say so much and given to eat, it opens up the world for a lot more back and forth communication, so it makes it a lot more unique and fun in that aspect, platforms like Linden, on the other hand, is… Their focus is business professionals. We see a lot of universities take advantage of it. We see a lot of obviously business professionals take advantage of it, a lot of B2B interaction with sales going on. LinkedIn is just strong in the business world, taking a lot of the personal side out of social and yeah, definitely have their place in this world as well.

Danna
I know I’ve used LinkedIn from the very beginning of starting my business quite a bit because it does deal B2B, especially when I was dealing internationally down Brazil. I found that a lot of the resources that I needed to line up for my work down in Brazil were found through LinkedIn. I found the LinkedIn platform has been more of a platform where you can build that credibility factor among other business owners within the B2B factor. They have their groups, etcetera, where you can have open discussions. But when advertising on either Twitter or Linkedin, is it near what Facebook and other platforms. Can you talk a little bit about where the differences come in?

Brandon
Definitely. In previous conversations, we’ve talked about how Facebook and Instagram really being the same thing, they’re marketing and their targeting efforts or unparalleled. There is no brand out there, really, excluding Google will hold a real competition with the number of data points that they have. This is solely because of the number of users on the platform. They are the biggest platform, Twitter and LinkedIn on the other hand are great if you know who you’re targeting. LinkedIn for B2B, if you were a business professional looking to prospect, sell, generate leads or information on another business. LinkedIn is fabulous, our organization is a company that provides services to other companies. Twitter on the other hand is great as well. If you want to get your message out to the masses, you can run ads for your posts as well to get more eyeballs on it and so forth. Facebook and Instagram is more of a catch-all where everyone, no matter who you are, falls into it, which allows us for a lot more data points, which allows for much better ads.
