Step 1: Discovery

The discovery phase should always be the first step to any web project. Before jumping into development, it is important to understand what you want your site to accomplish. Is it just informational…do you want it to generate leads…will it be a virtual sales environment? All of these questions must be answered before the development process begins. This phase will set the tone for how you will approach your SEO and marketing of your website.

Step 2: Plan

Once you’ve fleshed out some of your ideas in the discovery phase, it’s time to start putting them to work in some concrete plans for your site. It begins with developing a wire diagram of how the site will look and interact. Budget and scheduling decisions are made during this phase of the development process. Action items are identified and responsibilities assigned. The number one reason that websites are pushed late is because someone did not deliver on assigned tasks. Step 3: Design

Step 4: Develop

Step 5: Launch & Beyond

Now that your site has been created, it's time to launch! Launch also includes finding a point where you're moving from site development to site maintenance. A maintenance plan should be established. If you've built the site on something like WordPress then it's relatively simple to change content as needed if you have an internal IT person. If desired your site developer may be an option for maintenance.  It's good idea to have a post-launch meeting to discuss the project and any glitches that might come up during launch. There's no true "end" to any website. Technology on the web is changing daily, and you'll need to be prepared for that.
