Any of us out there with kids have heard those four words at one time or another. This blog is taken from the journals of my husband (with his permission), as encouragement to any of you considering taking the entrepreneurship leap or just looking for that next “inspiration” in life.

Again I observe that sadly in life, the most significant events in your life, those that will have far reaching effects for the rest of your life, aren’t announced by a trumpet blowing. There is no fanfare, so if you fail to recognize the moment, you miss out on a great joy in life, the realization that something amazing has happened.

I didn’t know 30 years ago that marrying my wife would have the impacts in my life that it would. I didn’t realize that my willingness to listen to self-improvement tapes would open my mind as it did. I didn’t realize that these tapes would prepare me to invest in furthering my personal growth by investing in a very expensive self-development program through Prosper Inc., without knowing what the return would be.

I didn’t realize that as a result of taking this course I would actually say yes, when my wife asked about the possibility of exploring Brazil as a possible new business market. I didn’t realize that we would be invited by Prosper to Utah to speak, further encouraging us to push forward. I didn’t realize that saying yes to Brazil would be so expensive and time consuming, and that despite not having a solid marketing plan or experience in Brazil, we did recognize that the opportunities outweighed the risks.

I didn’t realize that sometimes to pursue opportunity you have to step out on faith, in pursuit of your goals, not knowing exactly how they would unfold in front of you. I did not realize at the time that keeping an ‘eye on the prize’ would ultimately take so many unexpected turns.

Today I realized was a significant day in our lives. Though we have yet to see the first dollar from our Brazil efforts over the past two years, I received a phone call from my wife that was “normal“. She stated that she had received a call from one of our clients telling her that they were in search of a $50M oilrig. What struck home was that the significance of this call was not the request, but that it had become as normal a conversation as telling me to not forget to bring milk home. Wow! How many people have conversations like THAT, and can state that it was just a normal conversation?

Today I realized that we are “there“…because “there” is a mental state, and when you can have conversations like that…well THAT is significant!

At the time of this blog release I can state that we have officially signed our first contract with Brazil. Ironically, it happened on July 4th of all days.
